3 Countries, 2 Continents, 1 Mission

9 days and counting until the deployment to Iraq begins! I'll be heading down to Mississippi and Louisiana before getting block leave to come home for Christmas. After that, it's over to Iraq. Fortunately, everything has worked out well in being able to see family and friends before I leave. Thank you all so very much for your warm wishes. It will definately be warm over there. Though there is a general idea of what I'll be doing, we'll just have to wait and see to be sure.

Despite knowing already how much I'm going to miss everyone, I'm ready to go. Knowing that I'll be responsible for taking care of soldiers as part of my job is a comfort in that the days go by a little bit smoother. They don't seem to drag on . . . yet. It's likely that MySpace will not be available, so in case it happens, I'll look to update my website on a more frequent basis now.

Kids Make the World Go 'Round

Grace is now 9 months old and Grant turned 3 back in July. It is amazing how fast and how much they learn. Grant is stellar as usual. He has his moments where he is a 'crazy man', though would you expect less? He absolutely loves being outside. On many occassions he tells me; "Daddy, I don't want you to go Iraq" with a sober look. It crushes me, but I think he is slowly starting to understand. He talks on the phone like a champ. Grace has a mouth full of teeth and is standing almost on her own. God bless us when she walks! She makes funny little sounds with her lips and laughs all the time. They will always be my medicine!

Grant's First Airplane Ride

August 27, 2008 - Tiff and I took Grant for his first airplane ride ever. He was so excited to fly! We took him up in a Cessna 172 with his carseat strapped in the back. He wore his own set of headphones and looked completely natural. We flew from Capital City Airport to Lancaster Airport and back. Grant slept a bit of the way and the rest of the time just enjoyed the view. He even spoke into the microphone a few times. I was totally expecting him to freak out on take off, but he surprised me!

Night on the Town

Thanks to everyone that came out on the town with Tiff and I just before Labor Day! It was a great time having dinner and hitting the local bars and resturaunts. Nights like that are priceless. Especially when you see the pictures. Tiff even put a caption under one of them as: "No shit, there I was . . ." Totally priceless if you're military.
